On love...

So many times I see people pining. And it doesn't matter if you are a man or a woman, both do it. Men pine for and dream of the perfect woman, whatever her shape or personality. They dream of being the knight who rescues the damsel in distress or the rogue, the scoundrel pirate who sweeps the princess off her feet, away from her limited small world and away into a much bigger existence with her by his side. Women dream of their perfect man, a prince to match the princess inside them, strong, bold, sensitive...the lover and the fighter and the doer. The man who will build his life and his fortune with her as the center. (Feel free to transpose those pronouns if you are homosexually inclined) So often the ideals are inflated and inflamed in the mind of the person dreaming of love and its bounty, its euphoria and its consummation. Those fantasies fuel human art, literature, film, daydream and song. They cast the dreamer up to the soaring heights of anguish and ecstasy both.

And they are all lies, delusions to keep us playing a game that we don't even actually see.

Human beings don't love. They use the idea of "love" as a license to use each other. For psychological validation, for sexual release, for money, for children to anchor us to another human being so we can continue to suck them dry of their resources until the end of their lives...

Love is psychological and emotional predation dressed up in social custom, one that society allows because it has to in order to facilitate the propagation of this miserable species.

And this is true regardless of what kind of "love" it is. The parent's love of their child is just the expectation of an unpaid labor source when the child is young and a meal-ticket and care provider when the child is grown and the parent is unable to fend for themselves. Heaven forbid a child reject a mother's "love". The guilt and shame will be piled on..."I bore you in my womb and gave birth to you!", as if that wasn't something that any living organism can do. Even cockroaches can breed but few celebrate that. The love of siblings is just the expectation of favors paid in beer and words instead of money.

Aleister Crowley defined love as the force that brought opposites into a unity...a whole that transformed both of the constituent parts and made them into something different. He used the example of the hydrogen and oxygen molecules bonding in love and becoming water, something that transcends it's component parts. Unfortunately for him, no amount of love can bring water and oil into a harmonious transfusion.

And even on a biological level, it is a sham. The experience of "being in love" with someone is a controlled dopamine chemical bath that your genes are forcing your hormones to secrete in order to drive you into mating behavior with someone you could replicate the molecule with....because that's all it is...all this song and dance, all the pain and suffering...

It's just so you can chemically modify a molecule...and feel good about doing it. And the pathetic thing about it is that the mechanism is so broken in human beings that it can force you into falling in love with someone with whom that molecular replication is impossible. Nature's blindness at it's finest. The all-too-brief chemical reward of the orgasm is the payout for having your brain and decision making capability overwhelmed by your own body's chemistry seizing you by the throat and commanding you to fuck...whoever you can, whenever you can.

I used to feel empathy for those people. I pined as well; I too suffer from this affliction. Now I feel pity. We are all slaves to a stinking chain of proteins. I don't know which is worse...to know this and have to live in it or to be oblivious to it.

I disagree.... Love is different. Like Aleister Crowley said its the force that brings together two, transforming them into something greater. What you're describing is infatuation, lust, obsession...the same chemical reaction in the brain which can be duplicated with large doses of chocolate. Love...real love is greater. It's magic, and those that don't believe will never find it.

With as much blood as "love" has on it's hands, the farther away it stays from me, the better.

Love doesn't have nearly as much blood on it as religion does. By a staggering margin.

I present to you... the "Spectrum" of which one end is Love and the other...Fear. Sound familiar? Things in life fall out of that spectrum because it is far too narrow.

Love is pain, I'll concede you that.

But love is not abuse. nor is it use. People being used for any reason has nothing to do with love. People giving into their carnal needs regardless of who they hurt has nothing to do with love being in, around their minds. They are selfish.

And as deeply as this was getting... getting to the point of generally hating nature... well that I understand. Because Nature is what we are all bound to, and if you have enough emotional output to hate what nature does to us all, then you know what love is. And it is not as horrid as you are attempting to paint it.

It IS pain. Yes. But your arguments drift. And as both yours and my words are opinion... it's not what is the worst between having your out look or not, but more importantly... does your outlook help you in life as your convictions mold to it?

Doing anything in life for free is an illusion.
